Ikebukuro is one of greater Tokyo's bustling shopping districts, and the Sunshine 60 Building skyscraper and Sunshine City complex are located about 500 meters from Ikebukuro Station's east exit. Even on weekdays, the area draws over 100,000 visitors a day. The Animekan is one of the many nearby anime-related attractions for young people.
JR East and the Tobu Tojo, Seibu Ikebukuro, and Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin, Marunouchi, and Yurakucho Lines all come into Ikebukuro Station, which has 2.71 million rail passengers daily. |

There are many big box retailers on the station's east side, in a huge shopping district that includes Bic Camera, Ikebukuro Shopping Park (ISP), Parco, Seibu Department Store, Tokyu Hands, and Yamada Denki's Labi 1 Ikebukuro outlet. In addition to the Owl Spot performing arts center and Toshima's public auditorium, there are numerous movie theaters.
There are Zoshigaya's Kishimojin and Homyo Temple, which is well known for its cherry blossoms. The many historical locations include Zoshigaya cemetery, where famous people such as Nagai Kafu, Natsume Soseki, and Sato Hachiro have been interred. |
